The National Sailing Academy (NSA) is thrilled to announce that it has secured sponsorship from the Citizenship by Investment Unit (CIU) for its National Sailing Academy Schools Program. This initiative aims to provide valuable sailing educational opportunities to students across participating schools.

At a recent check handover ceremony held last Friday, Representative Sherelyn Thomas from the CIU highlighted the organization's commitment to supporting the development of the community. “This sponsorship is in keeping with one of the pillars of our Corporate Social Responsibility framework – facilitating opportunities that offer transformative life pathways.  This initiative offers access to non-traditional career options while at the same time honing critical self-development skills.  We also understand the lucrative employment, management and enterprise ownership opportunities available in the industry for students and other nationals and we are pleased to partner with the National Sailing Academy Schools Program in this regard.”

During the ceremony, a check for $18,000 was presented to the NSA, represented by Chief Instructor Sylvester Thomas & Senior Instructors Xavier Athill and Kayon Guiste. “We are very pleased to accept the check on behalf of the NSA,” they expressed. This sponsorship will cover the annual costs for one school to participate in the program, which includes instructors' wages, boat maintenance, and transportation costs for the students attending classes over a full academic year. Also in attendance were the students from Sir Novelle Richards Academy and Principal Mrs. Bradshaw.  Ms. Thomas went on to say, “We chose Sir Novelle Richards Academy because we are aware of the fantastic things that its educators and students are doing and we look forward to tracking the progress of the students as they gain more knowledge throughout the academic year”.

The National Sailing Academy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering free sailing lessons to all government schools five days a week, as well as providing opportunities for students with disabilities, both children and adults, every morning of the week. However, sustaining this essential program requires significant financial support.

The NSA is actively seeking additional corporate sponsors and private donors who are interested in contributing to this worthy cause. “We invite any potential sponsors to join us in making a difference in our youth's education and future,” said General Manager Alison Sly-Adams.
