Antigua has just been represented at The Ilca 6 Youth World Championship in Argentina, Mar del Plata with a Fleet of 99 Top international Sailors ages ranging 14-18 years old by Diego Ewinger.
Diego has moved from Laser 4.7/Ilca4 to Laser Radial/Ilca6 6 Months ago and is training out of the National Sailing Academy.
The first 3 days of the Championship were blessed with 30 knots of wind which gave the younger sailors of the Regatta some good Challenges. With an impressive 12th position in the second Race on Day 3 Diego found himself in the Silver Fleet after the Qualifiers. The wind dropped to a strong 20 knots for the remaining 3 days where Diego managed to improve his position with a 6th and a 10th on day 4 and a 7th and 3rd position on day 5.
Diego Ewinger can be proud to have represented Antigua in such a big Regatta and has shown some great talent. At 14 Years old Diego was one of the younger sailor ls in this Regatta and placed 10th in the Under17 and 56th Overall.
