The National Sailing Academy and Antigua Yacht Club is pleased to announce a joint event will take place on Sunday 11th September. The race will take place following the CSA Caribbean Dinghy Qualifiers. Selection of the national team to represent Antigua in the October event in St. Maarten will be based on the best sailors in Optimist, Laser, RS Zest and RS Feva classes. Winners in the Feva class will race in Quests at the CDC.
The CDC is the annual dinghy event where class prizes and an overall team prize will be awarded to the best sailors across the region.
Bart’s Bash is a global sailing race taking place at 100’s of venues, with 1000’s of sailors in 100’s of different classes of boat around the world. Founded in 2014, the event was verified by Guinness World Records as ‘The Largest Sailing Race in the World. Bart’s Bash is the flagship annual event of the Andrew Simpson Foundation. They are inspired by the memory of Olympic Gold and Silver medallist Andrew ‘Bart’ Simpson MBE, who passionately believed that everyone should have the chance to try sailing and enjoy the many benefits that it brings.
Adults and youths who want to enter the Barts Bash should sign up with their sailing club.
NSA students - call 780-1345 stating the boat they want to race in. All students must register on or by 12 pm on Saturday 10th September and attend the briefing at the same time at the NSA.
AYC Students - speak to the AYC instructors and attend the briefing at 8.30am on Sunday 11th September.
CDC qualifiers will take place with racing starting at 9.30am. Barts Bash will take place once the quailfiers finish at about 12pm.
All funds from entry fees will go towards supporting the costs of the team travelling to St. Maarten to compete in the CDC.
