Last Sunday we hosted our first regatta of 2023. 15 dinghies across RS Zests, RS Fevas, Lasers and RS Ventures completed races in feisty conditions. The racing was close and exciting.

The winners were Ozani Lafond in Laser, Imani John-Polanco in RS Zests and Patrick Greensmith and Alistair Knoblauch in RS Feva.

The RS Feva team also took home the Locman Italy watch. and sailors were also awarded with prizes from Office Express and Antigua Sailing Week. A big thank you to all of our sponsors for their continued support and Office Express for also running a very successful raffle.

The next regatta will be held on Sunday, 26 February, 2023. Entries are welcome in all classes. Fees are EC$25 for under 18’s, EC$50 for adults.

Team Antigua wins Nations Trophy

The NSA was delighted to have the first 4 students ever to qualify to be part of an overseas delegation to travel as Team Antigua to the CSA Caribbean Dinghy Championships back in October.

Senior Instructor Josh Daniels said, “Its moments like this that make all the hard work worth it. It means everything to me to see our students qualify, get the experience of travelling and competing at a higher level and understanding better the opportunities available to them.”

Competitors were challenged with light conditions during the final day of the 2022 Caribbean Dinghy Championship in St. Maarten. However, the Race Committee was able to complete three races.

Deshawnte Durant and Jahvon Hector from the NSA took third place in the RS Zest Class, Malik Charles and Zidane Martin NSA students placed 4th in the RS Quest class, RYA Instructor Ozani Lafond who races from the Antigua Yacht Club was first in laser radial, AYC instructor Rhone Kirby was first in laser and Emily Galliard, AYC Sailor was 1st in Optimist.
